**Emerges from under a rock***
I'm going to focus on the Toyota Sprint Seris again this year, but i will turn out at a few MSA events too. Want to do A few that are local(ish) like Bentwaters, maybe a Debden?
Anyone been chattering about the 2010 reg chages?
Helmet regs are changing, Class A lids won't be good enough for sprinting in 2010.
But by far the silliest of the rules one is that "track tyres" are going to be permitted in roadgoing class. I don't recall which list we had ot use in 2009, but in 2010 you can use any tyre from list A1 or B1! No doubt Bill will arrive with the softest thing available on his GT3 on it's trailer!!!
So i don't expect to be Cometitive as i can't be dealing with drving there on 888's or changing them over at the event to save on wear.
Somwe silly bollox about gloves being mandatory, but not certain you know the way the MSA write these things! It could be that the gloves thing only applies to Drag racing (MSA write regs for Sprint/hillclimb/drag under the same section)
I look forward to seeing a few faces at some events in 2010.
Who's Sprinting in '10???

What happened with the 1B tyres must be caged ruling? Have the MSA decided that modern cars are sufficiently stable to handle extra grip or even that more grip safer?
Introducing the fire proof helmets and gloves along with the tyre change suggests that maybe the MSA are looking to make speed events a little more interesting for spectators and more exhilarating for the cometitors.

Yup, still in the GT4.
The 1B thing is something to do with the South West clubs, they've run B1's the past couple of years in a bit of a grey area. In 2008 i did Castle Combe as did Kim on 1A's & got royaly spanked by trailered caged up Scoobies on B1's which were Mod Prod all bar the back seats, oh a Noble M12 on B1's. Was a shame to go all that way to get our so comprehensivley beaten.
IMHO B1's is stupid, aside from the extra cost jsut to "keep up" there is going to so much more energy when a car loses grip & heads toward the scenery it will inevitable result in bigger accidents & subsequently i think it won't be long until MSA make Roadgoing run cage/harness Etc or alternatively they revert back to A1's. I told my club president who is part of MSA H&S this is likely to be the knock on effect of this stupid change in the regs.
Suppose we'll have to see what happens!
As at most events B5 is made up of "us" we could have a gentlemans agreement that we will all run on A1's. Will be as equal as it would be if we all ran B1's, but without the cost & fannying about changing wheels that come with using B1's.

I've got a set on some track wheels i use for Toyota Sprint Series, but my objection is that at a Toyota event i get 20 mins plus seat time so although it's a pain changing wheels feels "worth the effort". But to go to an MSA event where i might get 5 or 6 minutes of seat time it seems like less reward for as much hassle.
I quite like my bed
so set off as late as i can for events & tend to press on & i've put some serious wear on a set of 888's doing a 250 mile round trip to a sprint. Plus due to the relativley few cuts if there is standing water on the roads it's pretty hairy.
I know you used to run B1's in D8,(not sure if you drove there on them, or changed at venue) but the whole idea behind Radogoing is that you can turn up in your everyday car, have a hoon then drive it to work monday morning.
Also the "production" category is being abolished in 2010, apparently as it's difficult to police, so Roadgoing is the entry level class. I think this change is only going to drive people away & discourage people from coming & trying it out. How intimidationg would it be as a newb to see your fellow class member with a second set of wheels in the paddock! I think it's not the right direction for MSA to head in, especially in the current economic situation!
(this is only my 2p)
