Totally understand and I am sure that with some dedicated time on the track with little traffic, some good guidance, no-one pressuring you to drive faster, no-one being held up whilst you gain confidence and your sensible head on, anyone can drive at a moderately fast speed for a few laps without crashing or breaking anything :thumb:
I'm definately up for this, just hope it's at a time when i can make it (or may feel a sickie coming on  )

Cheers Dave

I've also done a novice day before at Brands, we had a guided tour round the circuit in a minibus while the instrutor explained the lines etc for every corner, and the first time I approached Paddock hill at pace I was very grateful for the tour. It does really help.

I'd be interested in doing it again even though I've now done 3 (well 2 1/2) trackdays already

what i see cropping up for most people more than anything is the "fear" of damage factor?

the situation ( as i have explained to most people at the BP meets ) is this...

Mr.X saves up ( or get s a loan ) for sports car.

Mr.X spends money on air/engine/brake/wheel/tyre/bodywork upgrades

Mr.X puts blood sweat and tears into their pride and joy

Mr.X goes fast on the road but does wonder what it can really do on a track?

Mr.X books up a track day and comes across semi-proffesional cars looking rather organised and meaningful

Mr.X starts to worry "why am i now taking my pride and joy on a track with this lot?"

i soon realised myself buying a performance car and knowing full well 2-4 track sessions ( including drag runs ) was a strong possibility!!

i remember dan saying how he was getting whooped by 205 GTi's round cadwell coz they had the edge.

this is why i have chosen the route i have.

so basically i think novice trackdays are a superb idea for some of our members to experience.

now here comes the radical bit....

would there be a possibility of obtaining a car for our use for such events?

a cheap or even donated track dedicated car for learning with no holding back or fear?

its a big thing i know and damage or breaking down and maintaining it will have to be controlled but for a small fee per person it could work?

For what it's worth, i'm nervous everytime i'm sitting waiting to headout on the warm up lap - but as soon as I cross the pit line and join the track I get into it.

I'm the same as Ben, I'm nervous as hell until I get out on circuit.

As soon as I'm on circuit I just get on with it

yes i can see the point of not wanting to damage your pride and joy as i wouldnt want to damage mine but these things are built for a purpose and we tune them for a purpose and you will never enjoy them fully on the road you would be silly to even try, the track is the best and safest place to test your pride and joy and 99% of people on the track are also in the same frame of mind that they dont want to damage there own pride and joy despite how little or how much it costs compaired to others, thats just imo :)
