I'll be honest, as fun as the BM is it's really tough to drive cleanly and therefore quickly. This results in big grins but crap times and I'll have to work out a decent compromise for this sooner rather than later.

I think it's not coincidence that the quickest drivers I know also happen to be the smoothest (in no particular order Logan, Mike Blackmore, Kim Adams and Simon McGee) Sideways can be quick, just look at Gerry Marshall, but I don't have the skill, finesse or overall car control to slide and maintain speed.

Onwards and upwards eh :D
:iagree: Absolutly bang on mate! This discipline thing is so tough, as has been proved its not just about power (although it helps if only just to make up on the straights what you lost in the corners!) Trying to string together a clean run without a locked wheel or getting on the gas to early is such a great art! Which is why i will probably be back next year with the scoob as the lack of a.b.s is giving me a harsh leson in braking, but i do still have the 4 wheel drive to help me when i do cock up! Before logan pitches in with "you need an evo" Yes i would love one, but no funds! So i will stick with the comfort blanket of my old 4wd as i am man enough to admit i am not ready to go rear wheel drive yet!- sorry gerry maybe i will join your mx5 series in 2011?
I should say thank you to everyone thats been involved in this years sprints:cheers2: I have learnt more about car control in one season than in the previouse five years of track days! Why could`nt my old school days have been this much fun?:D

:iagree:harder you drive, the slower you drive

Very, Very, true, I could not get out of track day mode on sunday at all, So could not engage sprinting mode.
Looking back i was taking the centre cones very, very, wide instead of really tight. Crazy thing is, my 1st sprint was this year at N Weald and on my last run i did turn in very tight and slowly but smoothly and away in a straight line to the next cone and turn in tight and away in a straight line and knocked nearly 3 secs off my previous lap.
But still only a bit of fun and really love it all.

Think i will put the Caterham on slicks and see what happens.

Anybody have experience of tyre softening compound, just that i have a few slicks which have stood for around 3 yrs and are as hard as rock, and wonder if that could be brought to life again ?

I think it was the first award, which was very hushed and rushed! They did not say it was the novice award, but was the only one they did`nt state. I did`nt even catch the guys name!

Good to see the regulars there and the new boys! For NW it was a good day out! My highlight has to be managing to drift/slide my way all the way round the bottom section, and according to Ady get quite close to the barrier....whoops!

Russ - whats said above is so true, thats why I do like Sprinting, and when yo try and explain it to people who say, its not vaule for money etc verus a trackday, its the buzz of having to deliver and make every braking point, turn in etc count to get those last tenths out of the course. As said before many times "when the light goes green the bullshit stops"
No bragging about how you beat a Porche this, lambo that like at trackdays, at Sprints/Hillclimbs the clock tells the story, also doesn't matter what fancy bits you've got, how much yotu've spent....its the driver as much as the machine!
