Excellent report Stu, as always and great to see you and Tan.

It was a close run thing. I was leading after the first timed run :o

Then some one/thing awakened the Kraken.

I was stuffed into 4th with Mike 15 secs into the distance.

7 hours there thanks to the M25 and less than 4 hours back so yes Mike, the way home was a lot better thanks :thumb:

Trev

I look forward to more whoopass when you get involved with D10. One thing I learned about myself yesterday is that I'm just not that brave. The gap between our morning timed session and our final timed run was about 3 hours and in that time, I'd lost my confidence to really push on. Some of the speeds I'd glanced down and seen earlier (this place is faster than Snetterton with no run offs) combined with Blacky's horror story from two years ago; it all culminated in making me slower than I had been earlier and I ended up pottering around six seconds slower than my previous best.

It was good to put a face to the name 'Steve Cox' as I met him for the first time yesterday. Steve is the guy behind the handicap system we are using for this year and it seems to be working very well.

The morning after the day before, my thoughts have shifted to what needs to be done to make the car competitive. The days where I can nonchalantly turn up, turn the key and do well look well and truly gone. The rest of the guys have upped their game and as a consequence I'll need my own class at this rate

I may well have to miss a few events to build the dollar bills up to pay for the essential work as each time I take liberties with the car I am probably compounding the costs. Don't get me wrong. Stacked up against comparable cars in terms of budget or basic performance and Betty does very, very well. Toe to toe with 400+bhp properly set up cars with scalpel sharp drivers and I guess the writing is on the wall.

The car continues to stir opinions wherever it goes and the attention it gets at events and whilst travelling around the country has got to be good for the forum and my sponsors.

Note to add, Tan's new Volvo tourer is bloody gorgeous for towing. 450 miles to a tank whilst dragging Betty and the trailer, all with cruise, air con, full leather and the best sound system this side of max1's club :D

i have not got the budget for d10 if im honest but sod it at least the class seems to have some entries in it now unlike b5 , just waiting for my cage to turn up (was told 6 weeks when ordered) seats are waiting and i think possibly the purple plunger will be the weapon of choice

and faster than snetterton with no run off sounds intresting, just aswell i did not attend knowing my track record of falling off the black bit
i think my problem is im too brave with little skill

What a mixed day. I left home at 5:15 with the intention of arriving at about 7:00 Despite this, the DoT had other ideas and had planned a series of major roadworks along, what proved to be, a time consuming obstacle course. A mile or so from home it was 40 right to the M1. M25 there was x miles of average cameras, A30 they

Thanks Gerry.
It was only by chance that I thought of the video facility and only then because the screen. in sunlight, is impossible to see. Pics were pot luck so thought I'd a better chance with vid.

Quite pleased with it
