Braekdown recovery membership is a must. If your car breaks downs you don't need the added hassle and expense of getting it back home. I now the RAC won't recover you from inside a track venue but they will recover you from the road side

On the trackday that a lot of us attended in February, Bubble was the singular casualty of the noise meter. A few of us have quite noisy cars and don't get aggro as a rule. Bedford is a bit :gay: in terms of noise limits.

Another good piece of advise to set your tyre pressures (cold) before a session, do a few laps to get them warmed up and come in and reset them.
Then check and reset them (if required) after each session through the day. You may be suprised at how quicly you can get tempreature into your tyres and how much pressure will build up.
Remember to let your tyres cool at the end of the day and pump them back up to your road pressures if you have to drive home!

One thing that I have read somewhere is once you come into the pits to park after a session. Do NOT apply the handbrake until the brakes have had a chance to cool down.

Reason being... The hot brake pads adhere to the surface of the disc's so that once you release the handbrake they crumble.

Not sure on the truth to that :? but thought I would post in case it is of use!

A sick bag for nervous passengers is a must too!

Applying the handbrake on hot brakes can also warp the discs. :(

A slow lap or two to warm down the brakes and engine too helps.

The reason not to apply the handbrake is that the hot disks can make the pads 'weld' onto the disc.

Just have one or two cool down laps rather than coming in straight away.

Another thing to take into account is to regularly check you mirrors and allow room for quicker cars to come through.
Skyline drivers should also take note that your car may be a rocket on the straights but still can't out-handle a MKII Golf in the twisty sections, so remember to look in your mirrors too
