Or do what they do with some of the street legal classes in other race series, and insist that they are driven too and from the tracks, have to be MOT'd and even have to do a run after the race day in that state of tune to a local fuel station and prove that they run alright on pump gas, tick over OK like a road car and don't overheat etc

Anything to make racing/time attack more even, more comparable and more cost efficient to enter has got to be good news :)

Who knows. The amended/proposed rules are in Pablo's post above (10/11/12) but the organisers have been known to make some ad-hoc changes nearer to season time.

You entering an Ultima? ;)

That would be nice but I think it would be a more sensible move to improve my skill set first, start off in something a damn sight slower and learn from my mistakes in that

I've got some tidy sponsors already lined up (and perhaps more importantly I have the long haired General's permission!) so I have to put a plan of action together by next week :driving:

and will no doubt be picking everyones brains over the coming months

nothing to prove, I just want to improve and enjoy the experience

edit: well maybe I have one thing to prove if I'm being completely honest!

ok first of many questions if I may

Pre season testing, let's assume a good full day at each of the venues, how many laps at a time would you expect to put in before heading back to the pits to make adjustments/change tyres etc?

which leads me to the next question I suppose, of how many sets of tyres would you expect to go through during pre season testing (assuming 7 full days of testing minimum)

I appreciate fully that this is again very subjective and some cars/driving styles chew up tyres whereas others are a lot more sympathetic

likewise brakes/fuel (cost of using the venues will vary I'm sure but at a rough guesstimation what would be the average cost of each track?)

If anybody could offer up examples of what 'consumables' they got through pre-season it would help me to guage things early on

cheers in advance guys

The regs for 2013 will be very much as per this year. No big changes announced as yet. Next year I will be going to the autosport show as Time Attack will be there and it's the best place to gain info, going on passed seasons.

There is normally a test day in the form of a trackday, the day before each round and quite a few of these are run by the MLR. Not sure on the costs of these. At Brands this year they were doing TA test sessions the day before at

The Monday is a bit of an odd ball.

Is that a bank holiday?
