Scoobymania reckons they'll do me a quick turnaround to build mine if I deliver the engine without the car so, I'm looking for a workspace rather than the sloping gravel drive in the freezing cold wind, rain and sleet atm

Have a couple of options still to explore

I know the feeling Gerry Just had to stick some pads in the work horse and
its snowing out, cant feel my hands while typing this. You going for more
than a head gasket?

Miles away I know Gerry, but I have a unit that I rent that you can use for a while. Within 15 minutes of Snett if that helps mate

I'll be along to support, take pictures, write a report and generally grin a lot whilst secretly pining that I was out there doing it instead.

That's a great offer Stu and thanks. Trouble is I don't know how practical that would be.

The guy who welded in my cage has a workshop with ramp that would be ideal as he's only a few miles away. Waiting to hear back from him.

Sorry, I know this is hijacking the thread, but nothing unusual there

Heard from the welder today. Hopefully be taking the car up to his place for engine out on Saturday then with it to SM on Monday. I'll take the heads off first though as I just want to make sure the heads or block haven't suffered during the leak.

Spoke with the guy who's building Mike Blackmore and Richard Grimes' engines today. Reckons I'll be lucky to come third.

His price was too rich for me
