Snetterton Round 4 30th September
Phew!!! Just got home from a good days racing. Qualified 15th out of 32 in the midly moist, for the all comers race, ahead of most of the Caterhams. Finished well down in the 20's as I just got swamped by them of the line.
For the 30 min (LeMans) I had a brilliant race long battle with Richard Marsh we swapped a bit of paint at Sear and managed to take out 3 of the marker posted at Russell.
Woody clocked us lapping 1:32/1's which is not bad considering we were getting out of the way for a Radical on slicks and swapping paint and places :-D
Same again tomorrow hopefully 8)
PS
Sorry to bother you earlier in the day Stu, just wondered if you had any CVL handy but we managed to locate some.

I had to leave earlier than was ideal but I saw Luke and the guys and they were doing just fine.

Luke's practice/qualifying went well and he ended qualifying as the third quickest out of the 8 valves with a 1'31' something (The fastest 16v put in a 1'26" 6
)

The weather was great and the team were in good spirits.

The banter and piss taking was of a high calibre and seeing all of the Golfs, resplendant in their racing trim and cut slick tyres..............you can probably tell where my mind was going.

I was lucky enough to catch up with an old school mate, Andy Fells, who I've known since I was 11. Andy is on the management team at Fords @ Dunton and he's been racing in hot and stock hatches for years. It was nice to see an old face :thumb:
Also there was another mate, Paul Rogers, who was racing in the 750 Motor Club kit car series. This is Pauls second season and he won his race today, winning the championship overall :notworthy:
I met up with Steve, Kelly, Lil Luke and Jamie and all in all we had a great day out. Certainly an tempting insight into club racing.

It was good to see you today Stu, thanks for the post qualifying refreshments!
The race was a bit dramatic I had a good start 22 Richard Marsh spun in the 1st corner and I came out 2nd of the 8v's.
Missed Russell on the 2nd lap as there was a spinner blocking the track. I was overtaken in the 1st half of the esses but tagged the car when I dived up the inside of the 2nd part.
I lost a bit of momentum before the bomb hole as I put a wheel in the mud. I was side-by-side with the car I had just got past who started leaning on me round the corner pushing me out towards the grass (bastard!)
I lifted for Coram to get some turned left through Russell and the front corner felt like it flopped.
Ian jumped off the pit wall and told me to stop as I'd got a punture. I'll post a picture of the rim tomorrow a section about an inch in length is missing and some of the remaining lip bent back on itself!
It was frustrating not being able to convert a good weekend into some silverware but I'm not too down heated as the car never missed a beat all weekend.
A big thank you to everyone who helped out and came to lend some support, ite very much apprecitated :-D

Well an enjoyable day spectating at Snetterton today. A good range of cars today, and well done to Pike for quailifing so well, but bad luck in the race with a puncture in the first few laps :x . The car looked good and you were holding your own.
The hot hatches were a laugh, its more like banger racing watching these guys
but great to watch, and a cheap entry level to getting into motorsport.
A good day out with great weather and some good racing, good to see you Stu. But just seeing all them VW's racing around makes me more eager to start racing. (maybe next year!!!)

Good pics there Steve, sorry I didn't get much chance to chat. Did you manage to have a look round the car?
Bloody shame about the puncture/rim but thats the way things go. It didn't spoil the weekends racing though.
