So am I - rain would have been fun but not so useful as a comparison to my previous visit there. There was one time during the day where some spots of rain appeared on the windscreen but the rest of the time it was baking hotGerry H wrote:Sounds a great day. Glad it stayed dry for you and you all survived for another day. Hope to join you next time :-D
Cadwell - Monday 16th
ESL wrote:Brilliant day. Just back from treating the misses to a posh dinner due to neglect by motorsport (and a sneaky beer with Ren).
One of the highlights for me was getting the benefit of Maxxs' experience. I've never had instruction before and he has given me some fresh perspectives to work with as well as some specific Cadwell tricks. Can you let me know what sort of lateral g the RE070s logged Maxx?
The other was going out for a convoy blat with Dunc. As Maxx said, we approach the same thing (trying to go quick) from different angles and it was a treat seeing his smooth style from close quarters but I had to pedal bloody hard to keep up.
Gerry - we had suspected this but I can confirm that Dunc is right on the pace (and on 1b's, so in your group). I can see you two duking it out for honours in modifieds.
Nice to meet Cod and his missus and cool to have Bealo along, sorry if you thought I was unhinged but it seems to be the majority verdict. Looking forward to seeing the vid.
The only thing I didnt tick off my list was a pax ride in the Big Mans Sierra, everyone else came out with a nervous grin and I wanted some of that. Next time!
Not that there was any real doubt, but it's good to know our illustrious leaders can drive a bit
Sounds like the sprinting is going to get even tougher from now on. By the sound of things, I must get some instruction from somewhere if I'm to stand a chance

Bealo, Andy is unhinged. Try a pax lap on a twisty sprint circuit to discover just how unhinged

Handle every stressful situation like a dog. If you can't eat it or hump it, piss on it and walk away!
Just loaded up the data file and done some preliminary checks.ESL wrote:Can you let me know what sort of lateral g the RE070s logged Maxx?
Looks like we had quite a bit of GPS dropouts during your session, bit odd as Cadwell is usually pretty good and GPS sensor was idealy placed.
Anyway, we did get 2 full laps which were mid session so should have been pretty representative.
Max Cornering G was 1.379
Max Braking G was 1.144
Max Accell G was 0.44
Top Speed was 108.4mph
Lap Times 1:51.03 & 1:51.61
I did a quick comparison with my MR2 at Cadwell running on Toyo T1-Rs
Max Cornering G was 1.409 (avg was about 1.35)
Max Braking G was 1.229 (avg was about 1.15)
Max Accell G was 0.225 (avg was 0.20)
Max Speed was 97.53 (avg 96)
Best lap 1:51.56 (avg 1.53)
Incidentally, I checked some logging I recently did with a car (Supercharged Honda Elise, approx 320bhp) on Yokohama ADVAN A048RM's (road legal track tyre, soft compound)
Max Cornering G was 1.599 (avg was about 1.52)
Max Braking G was 1.433 (avg was about 1.38)
Max Accell G was 0.513 (avg was 0.48)

With the afternoon sessions, it was good to practice the bits I was doing wrongly previously with new found knowledge and try and hook those up with bits that I was doing okay![]()
I suppose I meant just cramming a lot into a 20min session. I think I was more so with Andy and perhaps with Stuart as well and yes, I did skip a lot of basic stuff that I would perhaps cover on a fuller day. I always aim to give the driver at least the last session and ideally a couple to just drive and not have to think too much. You never drive at your best when you have to think too much and often, stuff that you struggle with under instruction just clicks when your out there on your own and relaxed.
