If I hadn't blown my engine and then spent lots sorting it to its new spec I really realy would be considering sellingt eh Impreza for a Evo, of you go on the MLR they now have there own Sprint championship, with excellent circuits and its affordable....shame the majority of the Subaru community is just about stickers and dump valves.... :roll:
So i think for me, the Eastern region production class Sprinting si the best option, I like trackdays but if your competitive nothing beats going up against the clock. The TA is a step in the right direction, and maybe in coming years will have more events int eh year, and once its well known you can then enter an event at a time....this then becomes more accessable to people what with money and time constriants everyone has.

There is still a requirement for you to be a member of an MSA registered club for you to run in any of the AEMC events and I can't see a club in Norfolk, Suffolk or Cambridge that has an event listed (although I am known to make the odd mistake

Don't think so, but as its only open to club members I think thats how they do it. You have to have an Evo to run in it, which for me is not good as I would probably do everyone they have got this year if I was allowedstuartstaples wrote:Blacky

There is an event at Hethel, and some other pretty close, so I am not fussed what club is running the event, I would just join the nearest club and then that should enable me to compete. As far as I know, to race in teh production class its 1400-200cc then 2001cc-whatever, and you only need a fire extinguisher bolted in, and have to wear a helemt....but I need to read up a bit more. But as far as I am concered this seems like an affordable way to get into motorsport for me. I would love to rally, but the costs are just too much.

If you and I both do our own research we should be able to sort something out :thumb: I think there may well be a few of us interested and may be we could work out a way of taking the times from the events and using some kind of ratio to handicap the advantage of four wheel drive in terms of keeping a level playing field (and to stop Rob crying
)
That we way we can compete using someone elses MSA registration and have our own little 'tourney' too.

I used to sprint my Mini many years ago. Not only are you competing in each event but you enter a championship and you're competing across the season. It's all good.

If you were to introduce a ratio (and I'd suggest 2 best times divided by number of driven wheels :twisted: ) It would take away my ability to say things like "He only beat me 'cos he's got four wheel drive..." LOL!

I reckon teh Norwich one will be nearest to me when I move closer to there, so as soon as the regs are announceed I think I will join. I also see that MO Motorsport are a sponser of the championship, so I will have a word with Niel and find out what the score is.

Of course the MSA for a serious competitor is a good way forward just not so good for a one of if you need to spend 100's to play.

Not too worried about the timing gear at this point, although it will be interesting. What I am interested in is how anyone can run a sprint event at a licensed sprint venue (i.e Snetterton, Silverstone etc) without an MSA approval? This goes directly against what MSV have told me :?
As long as corners are not cut and safety is preserved, the cheaper the better as far as costs go this will open the door to more people 'doing it' rather than 'talking about it'.
