Holy sht Stu, amazing load of pics there and the cars are astonishing. Cant believe how clean they all are, much better condition than the Time Attack cars here.

How does the Bergcup work ? Is it split by power / class e.g. 4wd,rwd etc ? Oddly enough I love the Polo. Are Jap cars allowed then ? Seems odd just to see 1 Evo, if it was over here there would be loads of Evos and Scoobies. Nice to see an old RX though :)

The Speedhunters were there at the same event so there are some nice write-ups and more pics on there too.

Keep it coming Stu.

Classes are split into engine capacity
Any make or model is allowed Gareth
There were a few very high spec evos and a couple of scoobys
Delta integrale escorts pugs renaults
But its mainly old school German, lightweight is the key I think

Fantastic write up dude, the cars looks stunning, as gareth says so well presented, got the looks to go with the GO. Really like the way you've embedded links into the commentary chap.

Thanks for sharing.

After spending an hour or so at the start, we made our way up to the second hair pin and watched the cars dealing with the streaming rain. Traction was at a premium now and drivers were juggling with entry and exit speed with grip. The confident drivers were slinging in their cars with absolute commitment where are those with less bottle were losing seconds or losing their front bumpers!!

Gradually we made our way up the hill as the 240 odd cars went through the course but the weather got worse and so did the times. One positive that you could take out of the rain and wet surface was that it made seeing the efficiency of the aero easier to see as the rooster tails flung up into the air! I was wet through at this stage and a couple of us made our way back to the camp site to dry out. A change of venue for Saturday night as Rob, Pete, Toby and I headed for the hotel at the other end of the campsite for horse and pizza! Rob was the only silly sod daft enough to eat €21.60 worth of Horse arse! I settled for Pizza, as did Toby and Pete. It was a great dinner, in a totally different way to High Chapparal the previous night, but mega all the same. With a proper roof over our heads, at least we were assured of a good nights kip :)

Sunday- race day
An early start meant that we were up at the track by...........I have no idea, but it was early enough :D The weather was crap but the drivers were giving their all and the consequences for some was not pretty; we'll get to that later.

The village acts as a paddock and holding area for the cars before they are released down the hill before they turn around and get launched up it in attack mode.

This photo sums up the event in my opinion; a wide arched 205 lines up against a lime green V8 Mustang.

The cars were held here for quite a long while over lunch. News had travelled up saying that the Ferrari was smashed up after a moment of bravery, and one of the stunning Opel Kadett's had also met the armco after hitting it head on!
I think it was this one but I wasn't there; maybe the others could confirm?

This gave us time for some refreshments in the form of some waffles, fresh cream and strawberries! My diabetic nurse would have had a stroke but you only live once so you may as well make it fun :)
