Barney @ Brands (Report)

Post by IWANT1 »

What an excellent day.

After the recent trip to the ring Barney has definitely
caught the track day bug from me, having done Snet
the other week i talked him into trying a few other UK
circuits and not being that impressed.

So a plan was hatched to attend Brands Hatch Novice Track-day - PM.
a maximum of 3 track-days attended previously was the
restriction. I tagged along for the ride as Barney was taking
his dad along and they were planning to share the drive.

Image

On arrival it seemed the novice bit was a load of rubbish
plenty of well specked cars and experienced drivers had
been flying around the am sessions and its was hard to
see and novices so barney offed me a drive, ace ive never
done Brands and its another track now ticked of my list.

Not your usuall novice car

The car run faultlessly having had new grooved front and
rear brakes fitted with braided lines and some new rubber
fitted to his recently purchased track rims.

Driving etiquette was top notch sadly driver skill wast and
much of the day was spent waiting for someone to be dug
out of the kitty litter. I think brands record was broken
many times today with loads of people not even making it
round the first corner after a stoppage causing another
stoppage. Also brands seems to have a very different
attitude to noise testing "please blip the throttle sir" sticker
attached and on our way.

The track was awesome and it definitely lived up to my
expectation and comes a close second to cadwell for me.

I think we all enjoyed it and barneys dad will probably be
found out on track again soon.

Having never driven the car until pulling out of the pit lane i had to get a quick feel for the car Barney went white as we went sideways round Druids plenty of low down punch to drag you round. The M3 seems like an excellent car out of the box the brake mods stood up well too, back to back lapping from the three of us. Cant wait to sling it round the ring.

Sounds like a great day with some interesting cars. Did you get to see the touring car out on track.

Wicked cheers for the write up Lee.

I have to say loved the day and as Lee says the car really did will round the track with a brand new set of potenza RE070 well and truely scrubbed in round the first few laps.

So to be honest we did what would have been rude not to just get as many laps a possible under our belts and in the open pit afternoon session did in excess of 60 miles out on track and have to say really enjoyed the track.

Well the only thing is now Lee has his new tow bus there is just no excuse not to be going back to the ring and really seeing what the car can do and get so serious track time under my belt.

Yes the bug has been caught only thing to think about now is where next and when. if only i could win the lottery could just build my own track and just thrash round the track day in day out. i can dream.

Cheers for the write up again Lee cheers buddy.
