Hello im new...

Post by borgue »

Hello, would like to introduce myself and my first generation RX7, (1985)

The old trailer queen.

At rotor stock 2006.

Ran a 15 second quarter (i know its slow) with a 100,000 mile old 1.2L rotary engine and t3 suck through elford turbo kit.

the old girl was a test bead for pre turbo methanol injection in place of an intercooler, which worked a treat and raised the
boost from 6 to 16psi. with no intercooler the car went from full vaccumme to full boost in under a second. the methanol
also made up for the lack of fuel the carb would supply.

but onwards and upwards! take one of these things and rob all the best bits!

and dump the lot in here.

just trying to decide on exact speck but am loving the twin turbo pack for get up and go. same as currently being abused by a local white rx.

just trying to update a classic.

any way if people are interested will keep a thread up to date with progress on the project (first in the country i believe)

hopefully should see some tarmack in the new year if i get my finger out.

Ollie :)

Hi Ollie

Looks like a tremendous project and with twin turbos that thing should fly! Nice to see an old classic haveing some new life breathed into it.....

I take it the conversion (it's a 13b right? ) is a bit complicated?

Welcome anyway

yep bang on.

from a '12a' which is a 1200cc two rotar to a 13b which is a 1300cc two rotar.

its not as easy as i had hoped but gets rid of the steering box that has loads of play and replaces with a rack and pinion.

also a change from carby to EFI.
