Hi all,

Promised Duncan I'd do this!

Director of an Engineering consultancy based near Cambridge that designs and manufactures (amongst other things), live mappable ECU upgrades for the classic Impreza. As such ESL has a 340bhp 93WRX, 280bhp 96UK turbo, and STi5RA (in bits).

Used to race a Suzuki Swift in the 750MC stock hatch challenge, immense fun but very time and cash consuming. Member of MSA club Harrow CC.

Hope to be along for alot of events this year (had to attend Marham at 2000 feet due to lack of brakes). Currently doing the Jap Intermarque Sprint Challenge in the scoob and have just bought an E36 325i that is having its diff welded for a bit of drift fun!

Other toy is a ZX6R and airborne toys at my disposal include Cessna 152, Robin DR400/180 and Slingsby Firefly T67B and C.

Good site this, unusual to see so many doers. Hope to see lots of you at events.

Andy Stevens

Hi Andy. Welcome to BP.

Do you still have your 'standard' Scooby that took a class win at N. Weald last year?

Hi Gerry;

Its a bit less standard now, just put KW variant 3 suspension on it, got to get it aligned! Got John Start in my class on Sunday worse luck, have to see if I can get any closer to him (or maybe I should just buy his car :)

Coincidentally, I have the same KWs, supplied and aligned by Zak at Mocom, who I belive you know? He did an excellent job on the alignment, so I'd recommend him, if you need someone.

As for John Start in your class, commiserations! But the KWs should help. Good luck on Sunday. I'd have been there too but have to start work at 9:00 Monday in Dundee :o

Welcome to the club Andy,
I was seriously looking at competing in the stock hatch championship earlier this year but figured it would be just to expensive for me unfortunately.
How did you get on and how many seasons did you do?

Gerry; Zak is doing the alignment at lunch (between practice and timed runs) so I might see an improvement there! They seem pretty good on initial impressions. I need to have a chat to you about getting some RE070s under the car at some point, Zak said you had managed it.

Ian; I did 5 seasons, always in the top ten (out of 120 cars at the time I was doing it; three qualifying sessions and races!).

The cost depended in part how well you wanted to do, I practiced before every race weekend and that put the bill up in accomodation etc.

I think about 5k costs for a seaon not too far off; car was worth about 4k (at least thats what I sold it for a good few years back).

Racing is an immense buzz, I enjoy sprinting, flying, autotests etc but nothing really beats ploughing into the first corner with 32 cars around you.
