Cheers

450 os the estimate. This turbo has been making over 500 on the same spec builds as mine, but that is at 2.0bar! At 1.6bar which is what I aim to run it should be making around the 450mark, but ideally I want over 400ft/lb's and would sett;e for 400/400

you've got to get the bloody thing fired up first, then theres the chat we had about running it in etc. if people think it looks good on the outside then the little trick bits you've done for the coolers and stuff will impress them even more (well i was impressed anyway!)

Ordered the final length of oil hose tonight for the cooler. Hopefully get that in no later than Thursday then fill her with oil. Want to turn it over and get the guts lubed up as it is damp here now. Will put the coolant in tomorrow and leave it on a leak check until thursday.

Would be nice to turn the key saturday, just the AEM to map :?

Every peice of work, including mapping, is my own (with some advise along the way).

That is a very nice car you have, and very nice spec to go with it. I will be watching closely as that is one of the tubbys I am considering next. I am surprised that you have not added a pair of cams, 264s or 272s, I really noticed the power tail coming off cam when mapping, I assume you are keeping the stock rev limit? Let me know how your findings go when dialing in the cams, I have not get round to touching mine yet

I bet getting all of that power down will be fun, man it is gonna fly

Where you having it mapped, what boost you thinking of running?

Considered carefully my cam choice and went for the rev3 inlet and rev2 outlet. I have a few mates running bigger turbo's, such as the 3076 or 35r's. They have run 272 cams but found these to be extremely difficult to set up. They then went back to stock heads and made more power!

My cams will promote quicker spool and better torque as I have noticed on some of the MR2 builds running the 3071 that the bigger cams really destroy the torque. One car for example made about 451bhp and 359ft/lb's at 1.6bar. I hope to run the same boost but will be hoping for much more like 400/400.

If I can get 400ft/lb's any extra BHP that can be made is a bonus. This turbo will do 2bar, but I don't wanna go daft and split the block! If I really feel like I need more I can step up the cams, but wouldn't go any bigger than 264/256. The roads round here call out for torque and I am a lazy driver so like torque on tap.

You thinking of going for bigger cams? I would say on that turbo you have great figures, a 3071 will give you a good whollop more. I would seriously consider Forgies as the stock ringlands can be a be of a weakpoint. I built for a safeish build, whilst keeping costs sensible.

Writing a base map myself and probably getting it mapped at WGT. I had a look on the APT site but not sure if they do AEM?

I did a standard rebuild for a reason; first time mapping a car, lots to learn, and I *am* going to blow it up in the process

You can see the early torque on my dyno graph, in garage, using rev3 cams, and it is nice. I have boost running 1.8bar tailing to 1.6 top end (hence 370/405).

I am still considering cams and turbo for the next rebuild, I think I have decided on almost everything else, I am thinking 264s will suit me best.

Not sure on APT with AEM, but Gary a ring or drop him a pm on here.

Keep us updated. When you gonna be ready for mapping?

Got a quick run in although Richard at Coltec said it doens't need one he built it so well!

Can't praise them enough, a little slow, but superb attention to detail and great guys to talk to.

I would say within 3 weeks I aim for mapping, will give Gary a ring tomorrow

My mate runs 264's on his ST205 and they work well, with a TD06 and PFC, stock internals made 400, but detuned to 380ish @1.2bar
