Hey guys,

I have a MK3 non-turbo Supra sat in my drive not doing anything....except rusting round the rear arches :roll:

Would it be any good for drifting?

I know they are a heavy car but I could lighten it a bit by removing aircon parts and interior etc

Please let me know your thoughts...and if anyone has tried!

Rolygst has a turbo'd one and that goes very sideways.........may be good fun as long as your happy to sling it around, but obviously you'll need tax and insurance or a trailer.

hi there i drift a mk3 supra.they are great drift cars.mine is on coilovers.and ive welded the diff.its as good as any nissan. :lol:

I have a real love of JZ engines,

I have enjoyed greatly the couple of newer supra turbos that I have drifted

And I also appreciate that power isnt everything,

However I personally dont think a Mk3 N/A would be ideal for drifting, certainly not for more technical tracks or higher speed ones. If its free then thats as good as drift cars get, but if you have to spend much money on it perhaps you could sell it and spend the winnings on something more capable.

And despite Mr Monkeys obvious - and encouraged - enthusiasm, I would respectfully suggest that his car doesnt drift as well as "any" nissan

Driftmonkey, your car was awesome at Barkston. Best driftage there by a long shot.

Brian, you could do worse than get in touch, it looks like it would be cheap to convert and a good car to learn in, although welding the diff sounded like a painful process.

Like Bladey says, it might not fare so well at higher entry speeds, but for learning in the 50 mph stuff it could be the ticket.

Cheap is good Brian, particularly when you're learning and unsure whether it is your bag or not.

Weight reduction has got to be a good idea, if for no other reason than improving power to weight stuff.

Is the car road legal mate? If not, weigh up what it would take and then give it a go. Can't do any harm and you may well have a ball of a time, which is what it is all about

I know you are itching to do something with this Supra, and this seems a fun use for it to me ;-)

I had decided to strip it out and remove as much weight as I can,

I was going to use it for the Drift Practice evening but I had a bad back and thought better of it

I'm sure I'll get round to doing something with it (and yes Tony you can come and have fun ripping it to pieces!)

P.S. Did anybody notice the date on the first 2 posts? :lol:
