Custom made bonnets

Post by boxy »

As you all know I do my fair share of hunting for products. This week I have been so busy what with looking for clutches, bonnets, scoops, pillow tension rods, tyres etc, etc, etc. The process is long and tyring but worth it in the end, anyway, I have been trying to sell some products from Asia I.e the Subaru carbon fiber bonnets with vents. After posting up numerous group buys there was little interest mainly as people thought they were ugly or too near Christmas, who knows? So now I thought to myself what about commisioning my own bonnet, planning, designing and making my own unique carbon bonnet. There seems to be an abundance of carbon bonnets for all the same models of cars, but a very miniscule amount for skylines. So I thought I would persue making a bonnet for the R33 gtst Skyline, after all if I`m going to invest in them being manufactured I may as well get something out of it. Whilst I still have this car, the answer is no - If I had silver or white then most likely - but i've seen Wine Red R32's with carbon and they look just horrible. So i'll take a rain check. :) Good idea though, but I think you'll struggle to cater for everyone's taste.

I would have to say you will struggle to find people who will be willing to pay that kind of money for a carbon bonnet.

If you are looking for a gap in the skyline market then look at producing carbon undertrays like the ones on the R34 v specs as guys are looking for these but the only company that makes them at the moment is top secret and they are far from affordable.

thanks for the advice, it was only an idea and wanted to have another opinion as you can get blinkered into things.
