Auto glass can go jump for it!!!

i had two windscreen chip's repaired for free out side my local rainbow the other week, and yesterday i overtook a lorry and got another chip :(

so i put one of there plaster thing's on and called then today.(this is where the fun begin's) i called them up and gave my car detail's then my insurance one's they come back with 'ok we don't deal with that company so there will be a charge' so i said not a couple of week's ago i had two repaired by you and the bloke checked all my detail's and did the job. so she put me on hold. she come's back and say's i've acessed your count and there should be a bill of

not unless you signed for that bill at the time ben.

Damn skeaky huh. Well its their cockup, tell them, if you hadda know'm that you would have to pay then you would have gone to RAC instead. They dont have a leg to stand on ' the customer is always right' By law you dont have to pay. It would be classed as false advertising.
RAC will do it theres one in Thetford and they do a better job too. You dont have to be a member.

Each insurance company has an approved repair company that they deal with e.g. Autoglass or Rac. If you use a company that your insurance do not approve then you are going to get a bill. I know Rac do not deal with certain insurance companies but will do the work and charge for it. I have known some customers to pay the bill and then claim back off their car insurance. Autoglass should of told you that they do not deal with your particular insurance company. If they havn,t then its down to them to sort things out. Did the repairs come out ok?

they said at the time that there would be no charge, the repair's don't look any different you can still see the crack, he said that there strong but they have dirt in then so that's why you can still see them.

I nearly got caught out by this recently - When I booked with them they told me they worked with my insurance company - so the guy was about to start - then they realised they were wrong and were happy to continue if I was willing to pay ...... I decided I wanted it free ... and then went to the RAC windscreen guys as they were infact the nominated window people for my policy.

It's tricky .... I think they are just keen to get you in ...
