As some of you know last week my GTR sprang a leak, well more of a jet stream. It happened just as I cruised past my front door because the little fella's always run up the road after me and they were all waving there arms saying "LOOK LOOK!!".. so lucky for me I just rolled into my garage.

This happened 2 days after it had starting smoking on idle so I thought this is bad :( I called Leigh (scoobyandscrappy) to come and have a look before I called Ron. leigh came over and said "hmmmm thats throwing oil out under pressure I think it is probably your rear main oil seal"....Doh!! I mentioned the smoke to him and he said it could be crankcase issues or turbo. I assumed the worst and called Ron to sort out getting it down to his workshop.

Leigh 'Greenflagged' it down there this morning and I went along with him, it felt like the last rights were being bestowed on her and I had to be there :-D We dropped it off and I explained to ron as best I could the smoke and oil leak and he sucked in through his teeth and said very little :( .......at half two this afternoon came the call...............................................

"bad news I'm afraid Dan"......here we go....."you have 2 problems"...its getting better!!

It turns out that I had blown the rear main seal so that was replaced by the time he had called. I thought the next bad news was the one I feared about bottom end issues but the smoke was nothing to do with the engine..........I have blown the turbo, I didn't know whether to laugh or cry. As it had only been smoking for 2 days and coupled with the leak I had not sucked anything into the engine because I had not driven it :-D

So I'll have the turbo rebuilt and be back on the road in a week or so

Full sympathies go to you Dan. Very surprised that the 'rebuilt' turbo you bought has packed up so quickly but no doubt Ron will do right by you. He has a great reputation for good reason and I'm sure your faith in him and the car will pay off. Look forward to seeing you both on the 23rd if not before.

Thank god for that mate, as I started reading I was starting to wince.

It's bizarre how a car can make you feel physically sick when wierd things start happening. Well mine does!.

Sorry to hear about this Dan, but as said you caught it early so saved yourself a real nightmare of a job.

Good one ScoobyandScrappy (Leigh) for getting up and sorting it, I've never heard anything but good about him and his work :thumb:
