Potential work shop?

Would it be worth considering a little joint venture? I know of a large unit, big enough for 5 cars, that could cheaply be converted into a private workshop. 2 poster ramps are cheap enough, we could get an air line fitted etc etc. Would work out around

I'd be interested in knowing the costs most certainly ... could this idea also help out Ian and his storage worries ? .....

Sounds like a good idea, but I dont really know anything about repairing/mentaining cars  , so I pay someone to look after mine.... though it might be a good idea to learn sometime!!!

Look guys, i see it like this. We all have different skills and we all have something to offer and gain from this forum.
This workshop may well provide a benefit to several members in different ways. Ian may get some storage, several of us may get somewhere to learn about our cars, we all might save some money! If we (whomever it is) are prepared to pool knowledge and funds, I don't see how we can lose out.
Costs (approximated) are as follows

I'd be very interested in this Stu. I've started doing my own work on my car (fitted my Tein coilovers for instance) rather than pay others for the convenience but it wasn't much fun sitting on the driveway in the rain with the car on a trolley jack and axle stands . A workshop with a lift would have made the job so much easier.

Cheers,
Alex

At this rate I will have to cap interest!! If you are serious (and happy to put your money where your mouth is) please PM me as soon as you can. I would say that several people could use the facilities but you will not be able to store and work on more than 5 cars at once, so you're looking at around

Think that is a great idea - pay as you need :) ... you can't hire ramps for love nor money due to insurance and those silly things.

The guys that only need them now and then can help to subsidise the bills for the regular users, cheaper and more flexible for all.

It may be worth indicating whether you are interested, at this stage, in storage and workshop or just workshop. Anyone intending in just using the facilities on a more casual basis need not express an interest just yet. This will help me sift through the details I have had otherwise we're gonna need two units

For now, keep the list in this thread and I'll contact everyone via PM when that becomes relevant. I will be keeping the address off of the public forum for security reasons. I'll be happy to confirm the exact details once we've got passed the preliminary stages.

1) Stuart- storage and workshop
