F1 2014 season kicks off.

Post by russ979 »

Hurray, Finally the 2014 season has started! :hurray:
I watched practice sessions 1 and 2 today ahead of this weekends Australian gp and surprised myself.
I hope i am not alone in actually rather liking the sound of the turbo`d V6`s. First off i hated the look and the sound when i first saw them out in testing a few weeks back, But now the turbo wistle and deeper grumble kind of reminds me of DTM - i think??
For those that have lost interest in F1 over the recent years this weekends race might be worth a watch with so many changes gone on it seems every team will be happy just to finnish the race - even the odds on fav hamilton broke done on the first lap of first practice!
Heres hoping Sundays race is a good one. :)

yes, qualifying was really entertaining :)
now that the engine noise isnt totally overpowering, we can hear the tyres and chassis/suspension and also the crowd roaring.
i will be up at 5pm tomorrow for the live race, watching on xbox with a borrowed skygo account :)

That was a great qualifying season. I agree that now the cars are quieter being able to hear the crowd really adds to the atmosphere along with hearing the tyres screech when they lock up somehow makes it more involving. :coolgleamA:

FOM (Formula One Management) need to crank the sound back up- traditionally it's been reduced for TV audiences so it wasn't too over-powering, but now with the lower revs and turbo acting as a silencer, it's gone too far. Also, did anyone else notice the Driver radio is now crystal clear? It's a bit strange as their voices sound a little peculiar- Button's was particularily odd?

Cars looked really lively, even in the dry I saw Hamilton leaving a long set of 11's on corner-exit with the Merc power. Tomorrows race should be interesting to say the least! :D
Finishing off the Ford ;)

Well the race was good, but Redbull seem to have gone a bit insane after 4 straight wins.... yes, the rules apply to you too.
