Ok so loads of people on here seem to either do sprinting, or have done in the past and I'm getting really interested.
Most will know my car, which is basically designed for track so prob not really suitable, i.e compettitve - laggy, long box etc - but I reckon it would still be fun to have a go.
So whats the stats? And where do I start? I guess as the GTR is quite well modded I'll be up against some proper cars designed for the job and I'm not going to change the focus of my car, but I'd be up for having a bash next year I reckon for a giggle?
Sprinting for Dummies (and virgins)
There are two main types of organiser for sprint events- MSA and a private organiser like us or MLR. For the MSA you'll require a speed license which is about

The singular thing I found was making sure that the class that you will be in has enough entries otherwise there may be three of you in one class, and trust me that does happen.
When I had the M3 3.0 we went to Cadwell and there was only four cars in my class I think. Helped me to a class win though, so not all bad
I truly loved sprinting and with the right bunch of people, it is pretty much unbeatable in my opinion.

As stu has covered all the basics the reason iam going back to sprinting is there are now more cars in the class we will be going into which is road going over 2.0 4x4 when I ran In fully modified the class was not well attended and if you had less than 5 you could not score maximum points for overall championship.
The mlr series is the best value for money and well organised the msa boys could learn alot from these guys you don't need a expensive race suit glove's just a crash helmet and long sleeves and when I did it at snett in the golf it was manic
You got so many runs for your money but you do have to travel to follow the series
As for the msa series it's more localised some rounds are cheap as chips but that normally reflects where you are its a bit more social as you have more time between your runs for chatting and burger and tea consumption. Unfortunately you do have to have a 2 layer race suit not cheap up to date fia crash helmet fire retardant gloves

If you're not entering an Evo, or running as part of 22B.com, then you're in class G, which is pretty much open to anything.
No real difference over 2011/12, other than the requirement of enrants to have a fire extinguisher secured in the car (or a plumbed-in system).
Only other rules to bear in mind is the MLR insist on a valid MOT (as a sign of 'roadworthiness', although I've never seen it checked), have at least one working headlight and two working rear clusters, and if running carbon/fibreglass doors your rollcage needs to have door bars.

Tyres are something to consider as we'll as can only run 1A in the lower road going class's biggest problem I found this year is people not understanding that they should move up to the road going modified class, the 4x4 class doesn't have a standard class so no issue there really but till limited to a 1 A or B.
Tow eye, timing strut, bit of earth tape, safety gear and your away.
I really think the MLR regs for safety are offside 700+BHP cars running and people wearing crap safety gear 50k on a car 50quid spent on protecting your self....
Autograss is the same build a mental car in the shed and your can wear your overalls that you layed under building it with petrol running down your arms, mental.

You should see the whinging by some sprinter's over the newly introduced extinguisher reg!

They totally forgot the fact that when a Scooby went up in flames at the paddock entrance at MIRA, it was only the fact that those around it had their own extinguishers to put it out, that it wasn't burnt to a crisp! It was already out by the time MIRA's guys were on the scene.
