Lets 'just' suppose..

Post by Daniel »

that i'm feeling about putting the Supra on the back burner for a couple of years and instead have an R32 GTST as a track toy :sifone:

What must i know about on R32's? i've already taken into account how expensive running them can be but thats only a minor issue now i've had my pay hike.

All information will be appreciated :)

One of our old members Jungle Jim had one. Good choice Dan, but you need to find a good one as they are old now They are a great car especially with a RB25 conversion from GoFasterSpares lol.

That one that Lee posted about seemed like a bargain and that probably sparked your interest.

They are for sale on the Skyline clubs that i am in occasionally.

Yeah that is true, i noticed they're around 20+ years so if i find a decent one and have an extensive service/replacement package done to it then it should be fine i hope. it was certainly the skyline that lee posted which caught my interest, the temptation would be too great if i bought a looked after supra to go and play with it, so a rough and ready GTST makes more sence for now :) this one also caught my eye on pistonheads;

I'd been looking at the same white 32 Dan. Nice choice mate :)

Things to know

The RB20 can produce more than enough power and is far easier to work on than the 25 or 26. The gearboxes take plenty of abuse but watch out for the drift specials (for obvious reasons; it's not just the box, but the clutch and diff that take a pounding)

Modifications are relatively cheap

They are far lighter than a four wheel drive one or even the later R33 GTS-T.

Rear arches might as well be made of cardboard. Don't let this put you off as you can drive the price down and then fit arches like I had on mine ;) (

There are plenty of them about Dan, and most of them for fairly sensible money. Yes, alot of them will have been driven/drifted hard as they seem to be quite popular with the sideways crew.

Good entry into Skyline ownership though. I had one for about a year before the Gtr and I must admit they are absolutely bundles of fun.

Just check out the insurance first as obviously they will be an import and they are in a high group so it will probably quite pricey. Not trying to put you off in any way at all, just a heads up.
