first question - what model of volk ? .. Te37's have a square inner edge so will fit over brakes better than other 17's ... but not all Volks have the same inner profile.
I'm not home so can't measure my calipers .. but with my r34 brakes I still have good clearance.

K-sport calipers are huge Matt. Play it safe.......don't buy them to fit over your wheels but maybe buy them to sell on?

Didnt get them in the end as they needed tyres & i didnt want to be stuck with a set of rims that i might not be able to shift for a month or two what with christmas only just round the corner . Thanks to both you & ben for a quick response though !
Cheers , matt.

K Sport 356mm under TE37 17" wheels...
Shows how tight it is, but it will fit depending on offset. Cheaper wheels like Rota will also fit but the offest usually needs to be alot less to get the spokes away from the caliper

Toight!!
If Rota's are copies of Volks (amongst others) why would there be any difference Scott? The spoke design and dimensions are duplicated I think my old bud

The looks are copied, but the actual structural design isn't afaik

Probably due to the metal alloy used when making the wheel, cheaper material means more off it to be as strong, hence less clearance
As said though, you can get around it using a more manly offset. IIRC mine are ET30 odd, the ROTA I tried in 17" with the same offset wouldn't fit, but it would if it was something like ET20. That extra 10mm is enough to clear the edge of caliper
