Shieet Rob, I didnt realise you guys were taking paycuts. Was that because you cant be doing overtime or working 'unsociable' hours ?
What about a Mondeo diesel or Honda Accord ? What about a Golf TDI, they are cheap to run but have plenty of torque. Dont laugh at this next one, a Skoda Fabia VRS ?

Yeah, losing my overtime, so been proper screwed
I tend to look bigger cars, vectra, sort of size, would the golf be much smaller than that?
Have looked at modeo's but so many different spec levels I cant work out whats a good one, lol.
Will look at the Accords now, and did they do a Octavia VRS diesel, not a fan of the Fabia

The Golf Mk4 is a little smaller than the Vectra etc.
How about a 320D? They'll be good to drive, RWD, and as long as the swirl flap is sorted, be reliable and quick enough. Can be had easily enough for 5K

go with the 1.9 tdi (115, 130,150) range of the vag group. great motors and specs. i get 52 mpg from my 115, 50 mpg out of the 130. 42mpg from the mondeo 130 tdci. bora's are great value (130 highline) but golfs look better. the audi's are over price i think. skoda's and seats are the bargins.
