Dear all, need some help to get Bryan's car to APT on saturday morning.
Is there anyone who could help move the car from bryan's house in thetford ... the timings out on his car and it's running lean bigtime .. so risky to drive.

If you can't get transport and he's got a fuel pressure regulator fitted get him to turn it up a bit just to push a bit more fuel through the injectors, it would help with lean AFR's. Also create a small obstruction at front of the inlet side of his induction kit/airbox and that will richen AFR's up a bit. I can't think of anything else to make the car safer to run.
I'd have said if he takes it really easy and keeps the car off boost it should be ok to get there. If it's suddenly very lean something must have happened to cause that, maybe a fuel pipe or filter blockage, and as for timing the cambelt hasn't slipped has it??.

Nort sure about Francis's bodges lol, but as he said if the car is off boost it may be ok to drive although if it is a serious problem it is safer to trailer of course.
Rob B or Ben H may be able to help with transport or just hire a trailer for

Eddy i've done much worse and bigger bodges than that to get me home over the last 25years on the road. You will when you really have to.
A small obstruction somewhere in the induction system (Gaffer tape over part of the airbox entry will richen AFR's as will turning up your FPR if it's adjustable.
If you need to get home or to the garage and there's no other way....bodge it, it's only temporary.

Yes, i know that the things you said work, but if there is a serious fuel delivery problem like fuel pump giving up they aint going to work.
Just was trying to protect you really as they should really trailer it.
Cheers

It sounds like the CAS has failed - the bearing have gone .. thus it's sticking, thus knocked the timing out.
