i remember a guy called rob who was on here breifly who had a pulsar gtir that took forever to build (500bhp)
who run his car in this way on a dyno , he posted that link up on here

i dont know what happened to his engine but the car was sold in bits not long after it was built
be intresting to hear from him if he reads this

Interesting assertion that it's the first 20 miles that really matter. Would be expensive to prove scientifically by dismantling identical[1] engines after 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 miles etc, but doable. He doesn't offer any indication that he's done that though.

His opinion reflects general race paddock folklore, however, that running-in can be brief and maybe results in a quicker motor (race bike paddock, at least).

[1] as identical as possible, brand new then blueprinted I guess.
