the mrs want to buy me one for xmas, around

I've had a few Sony camcorders for that money. I've currently got the DVD burning one, but next time would probably go for the memory type instead, as the discs are limited to only an hour or so, and that's on long play. The Sony's are really good to use, but I can't comment about the Canon cameras, I love their stills cameras, but no idea about that model, sorry!
