Ben, Dunk and I have made some key decisions in the last couple of weeks so we thought we would bring you guys up to speed on what we've been working on.

Firstly, as you may know, there is currently a team of five people that run the site. That role includes ;
-manually approving and declining every new user for the forum
-answering PM's and emails regarding advertising, queries about events, queries from suppliers and most importantly members
-moderating hundreds of new posts
-event planning and implementation
-posting out membership packs
-and negotiating deals with new and existing advertisers

The above list is by no means exhaustive. I reckon I spend at least 15 hours a week on here 'tidying up' and I'm only one person out of five, so the commitment to the forum is huge.

For 2009 the club is planning some really big things and this will mean more organising, more man hours and far more effort from everyone involved with the running of the club and forum. With that in mind we are delighted to add three new members to the Administration team

R32 Nik (Nik Penn)
Sidewaysfletch (Jason Fletcher)
Gerry H (Lord Houghton of West Anglia)

These guys are great examples for everyone to show the 900 odd users 'how it's done'; everything from conduct on the forum, taking part and mucking in at all levels. Walking the walk in every sense. Also, these three guys have been great supporters from the early days and I'm proud to have their help taking BigPower forwards next year. They will be joining Gareth (RX7) and George (Rolty) on the admin team. There is also a good chance the club will specialise the roles of the whole admin team, so that we can better meet the demands of running a club/forum that is this active.

The second part of the update is something that Ben, Dunk and I spoke about a while ago but was highlighted by tonight's meet, so the timing was impeccable :)
The numbers of attendees at the winter meets is falling steadily and this is of no real surprise. Many of us have had very busy years, and add to the fact that the club is largely an event based forum rather than a 'standing around drinking pints' kind of thing, we could see what was happening and why, months ago. We are very fortunate to be blessed with the hardcore guys and girls that come along month in and month out but the reality is that maybe, we could all do with a break for a while, gathering our collective breaths for next years onslaught. There is also the consideration of how we financially support the circuit. Asking Gary and the team at the restaurant to stay on late on top of an 80 hour week for about 20 people to turn up, just isn't good enough I'm afraid. I have been assured that they are happy to support us in whatever decision we make and our future meetings at the circuit are guaranteed for the foreseeable future. The club has forged a fantastic relationship with MSV and that should only get better as time moves on. Everyone involved with running BigPower is very keen to protect the excellent relationship we have and this is another factor in our decision. So in summary, there will be no further meets at Snetterton until March

Ben, Dunk and I would like to thank everyone who has joined us at the meetings at Snetterton and we will resume our normal monthly meetings from March of 2009. We will be organising a nice season 'opener' in February and that event will be a bit different. Please keep your eyes open for all announcements as that will be a cracker!

So there we are; three new excellent additions to help run the forum and club and an exciting start to 2009 with an event that will blow your socks off....

I'll see some of you at;

Dyno day on Sunday Nov 16th
Brands Hatch Saturday Nov 23rd
Snetterton Saturday Dec 6th and 7th

Welcme Nik, Jason and Gerry,
All cracking guys.
Shame about the lack of meets for a few months. I would be one who would be guaranteed to be there. I have not missed one yet.
I still propose some sort of Xmas meet though.

Congrats to the three guys and it's a big step in the right direction.

I have to agree with the stopping of meets until March. I was there at the meet in Oct and it was really just a quick chat over some food.

Looking forward to getting even more involved with things in 2009 and excited about having a go at Sprinting.

I'm really enjoying being part of the Bigpower family and long may it continue.

Big thankyou to all the Admin team for a great job in 2008 and hope to be there with you all at Snett on 6th Dec for my birthday (7th) treat on track. :-D

Thanks for the kind words (I'll ignore Logan for once :grin: ) and congrats to Jase & Nik.

BP is a fantastic group of people and the site has come a long way in just a couple of years thanks to the foresight and dedication of the Admin Team. Hopefully, we new guys can help to keep up the standards that we all enjoy.
