do anybody use these are they worth the money?, been thinking about a set as i dont like the idea of running the R888`s through the winter period for obvious reasons

I suppose you realise that the majority of this forum reside in the balmy south? Here, any more than a half inch of snow brings the roads to a grinding halt or at best a crawl, so it doesn't matter what tyres you have.

there was a thread on scabbynet about winter tires, some were saying there the buisness some were saying they were a waste of time the argument was going to and fro, i was kind of swaying towards them but though i would ask on here as you lot or more car enthuasists and petrol heads rather than boy racers/cruisers etc etc

I suppose it's too easy, inexpensive, and obvious to suggest snow socks or chains for tyres if it gets that bad.

well it dosent get that bad with snow really, mostly icy/wet though, i know the R888`s dont work well unless they have enough heat in them and they wont get much heat in them up these parts over winter! thats why i was swaying towards winter tires lol

I've found that my T1R's last year when we had some proper snow around Northants gave me plenty of traction in deepish snow, and up some pretty steep hills covered in thick snow and ice.

Whilst others around me in cars and vans were genuinely struggling to make progress/became stuck on a fair few ungritted roads in the countryside round here i had absolutely no problems getting past, never once getting stuck.

I even drove around looking for deep bits of snow on private lanes and tracks i know just to see just how far i could get with these tyres baring in mind i heard so many people saying they were crap in the snow and ice.

I never got stuck once!! I have no doubt the 4x4 capability of my scoob helped in leaps and bounds but in my opinion the tyres did a pretty fair job too.

I recommend these all year round for times when you don't need to run 888's.

Haven't seen a post from him for a while but you could PM him.

I lived in Germany for 3 years and in winter its basically law you have to use winter tyres, issue is these as very soft and they are speed limited to 110 mph. They are fine is its very cold and are much better than our normal tyres (summer tyres) but once its wamer they wear very quicky.

I would in this country just get a decent set of all weather tyres, like the new Goodyear Assymetric or similar, tehn you can use them all year round and then save the 888's for track.
