im thinking about purchasing a R32 skyline which is believed to be a GTS-T, however more often then not it'll be a non-turbo(insurance salvage ain't got a clue)

I'm looking for someone who can tell me if this engine is a RB25DET?

That does indeed look like an RB20det. As it is in an R32gts-t it would also point to it being an RB20 as the RB25det weren't used in the R32, just the R33 Gts/t onwards unless you count the RB25de in the NA R32.

*Stands back waiting for the more knowledgable people to shoot me down in flames* :D

Rob,
As has been said, the R32 Gts-t came with the RB20, but some are converted to RB25. This one looks standard though.

Thats an RB20det

If it had of been swapped - as mentioned R32 come with the 2.0 litre, R33 had the 2.5 - for the later engine it would have a bulge on the inlet side of the front timing belt cover for the variable cam timing.
