Anyone on here got any experience of it, or know/understand what's likely to happen (as in payout)?
You hear of it in the news a lot now, but you hope to never have it happen.
It seems after much deliberation that one or more of us in the workshop are going to have to be let go, and although my position 'should' be safe, I'd like to know what to expect.

Yes, I work for a company where this threat occurs every 6 months.
Basic rules in our place are 1 months untaxed money for every year you've worked. Plus 3 months money.

Cheers Gary.
Thing is no-one feels 100% safe as there isn't really any 'easy targets'- even the Top Tech is nervous as if they base it on efficiency/ hours sold/ wage costs, then he and myself are screwed despite nearly 20 years Fiat experience between us.
Should know more by the Dyno day, might have to have a chat then!

Well, it's happened sooner than we thought it would. We all got called up to the boardroom at 3pm to be told they'd made their decision and were going to be speaking to us individually later.
Needless to say it's a good thing there weren't any urgent jobs to do as we couldn't do much but stand about feeling stunned and nervous.
The casualties were; the workshop controller, one Alfa Tech, one apprentice, and one of the older Tech's (currently at another site) going part-time.
All in all, not a good day.... and although my position is safe, I feel like crap.

I heard rumours of Inchscape shedding Tech's, didn't know Dan was one of them. Poor bloke's not been lucky with jobs the last few years.
Do you know if any of the other guys we know went too? I'll have to get on Live over the weekend to catch-up.
