Having sold the scoob and buying the BMW (DRT) i have decided to buy another car.. We're going to part/ex Kirtys Fiesta ST and look to get something bigger and preferably an estate as we've just rehomed a 10month old lab....
I've been looking at the Volvo V50's as I get family discount (20% off of the price before VAT)..
I'm off for a test drive later in the week but am sitting here wondering should I go 1.8/2.0 petrol or got the 2.0diesel route!?!?!?! The petrol versions are about

They do look very nice. I would personally go for the 2.0 petrol engine.
Petrol has been cheaper than diesel for a few years now, so you'll be saving a few quid, and a 2.0 engine for an extra bit of oomph when carrying any excessive weight. :thumb:

2L Diesel Legacy (out now) or Forester when it eventually comes out if it isn't already. Nice big boot in either!!

Diesel Chris
better residuals, MPG, torque for towing etc
Looks like a quality car mate and as you work with Volvos every day, you know exactly what you're getting. That 'R' pack makes it :thumb:

Turbo diesels are so bloody good these days and will return half as much again in mpg for the exttra 40 odd pence per gallon.
IMO

With respect, even the 2 litre petrol will be a little sluggish with that weight, so for reasons as already mentioned (Torque, residuals etc) I'd go for the diesel. Volvo's are becoming fleet owned more these days, and that will mean the next purchasers can be really picky with 2nd hand ones if they are the right spec. (Ie Diesel estates in good colours with all the toys)
On the plus side, Diesel turbo's can give good power/torque with chips and remaps, so you'll get to have your cake and eat it!

Every extra on it bar a sunroof!!!!!!!!!!! Thats front/rear parking sensors, heated leather with memory seats linked to keys,in built sat nav which pops up, upgraded audio with phone, bi-xenon headlights, upgraded wheels, rear spoiler, 7 seats (2 in the boot), cruise, intergrated kids booster seats, and i think thats it...
