quick word about the NHS

Post by ants13 »

Now I know how a lot of people dislike the NHS and think its a waste or needs more money etc and TBH up till a couple of weeks ago, I would have agreed with that but I think this should be said.

Last week however my sister got took seriously ill , as did her 4 day old daughter.

As you can imagine we were all distraught, it was touch and go as to whether she would pull through.

But mainly thanks to all the nurses, doctors and the many other people who work in the ICU of Boston Pilgrim hospital, my sis and niece look to be making a recovery.

So to anyone who works for the NHS, in any capacity, thank you for everything you do, without you guys Im in no doubt I would be mourning my sis right now. Thanks

The only reason Im posting this is I dont think enough people give them credit when its due.

Good news Ant

I don't anyone that would knock the nurses or Doctors, even the staff. The management and red tape, however, need a damned good going over.

My sisters a nurse and has been for 20 odd years. I am amazed at her capacity to cope with stress and awful pressure.

She makes me very proud in that respect.

i agree about the management and red tape, but all of the nurses in the ICU have been so good to all of us, not just my sis.

I honestly wish I could say more than thank you,

we've already thought about what to get the staff in the ICU, and they'll defo be getting something.

We'd like to get more than flowers, but what exactly can you get to say thank you for saving a life ?

It's also gave me a new found appreciation for the small things in life, sounds daft but it gave me a kick up the arse about certain aspects of my lifestyle!

Don't try too hard to think of a way to thank them now. It is far more meaningful and would touch them more if when you / we are about to celabrate a birthday, christmas or a special occassion that you / we take time out of our busy lives to go back with a bunch of flowers, a card, a photo to say thank you for giving us this time.

All the best to your sister and niece.
