You are welcome Tony. I get a spare ticket every time I marshal. If i will not be using it for family etc then they may come up for grabs again. It would only be fair to offer it out rather than see it go to waste.
Stu, it is actually a bit different being on "the other side of the armco" (particularly looking like the tango man in my nice shiny new orange waterproofs). You do actually see quite a bit more because you have to lol. You are having to concentrate on several things at once i.e. watching the cars going through the corner to see if any spin off etc and keeping an eye on the cars that are approaching your post to make sure you are safe so it can get a bit hectic.
Not that I am an expert as it was my first day of marshalling but I tried to get as involved as possible to see if it was for me or not. Not that I had to wait long as the second lap of the first qualifying session with the LMA euro saloons there was a bit of a "shunt" at the bombole.
I was at the inside of the esses and we saw a spinner on the second part of the esses and just as that happened, a Lancia spun at the bombole and a Noble hit it in the rear quarter and sent the rear end up in the air. When the rear end came down it ended up in the windscreen of the Noble.
It turns out that another car had droppen oil on the track all the way from the esses to part way through Corum. Needless to say we were all kept busy for about 10 to 15 minutes with the absorbant powder and brooms trying to clear it up. A great start to my first day

Apart from popping out to check the track between qulifying sessions the rest of the morning was pretty uneventful at our post with the formula Jedi's all being fairly well behaved.
We then had to push an ASCAR, yes an ASCAR away from the track as it lost drive an Revett straight and coasted past our post and stopped just up the run off at the first part of the esses.
Then came the Porshe 924 cup. What a bunch of nutters lol. They were chucking those old porkers into the esses like they were trying to get away from the police after stealing them.
Then the races began and there were a few spins on the second part of the esses in the euro saloons.
There were a few issues with the jedis in their first race with suspension breakages and a couple of shunts.
The silhouettes were pretty boring as there were only a total of 9 cars running.
The porkers then had a couple of "rubs" near our post but the only major one was down at Sear and they didn't get as far as us but stopped on the straight.
The rest of the day was pretty quiet for us but the racing was good and close.
It is quite interesting to be so close to the track and the noise is a bit better
especialy from the V8's
I will say that I will be going again when I can,but some of the "better" dates ie BTCC etc fall on family birthdays and things like that so they may be a bit difficult to attend and the fact that I am working most saturdays at the moment makes it difficult too as I would like to see Sarah and the kids occasionally
However i will try my best to attend the required amount of events and hope to work my way up the ranks so to speak.
