TV problem...any members do TV repairs?

Hi guys,

My Sony TV went to standby yesterday all on its own! The standby red light now blinks twice,no other response from the TV

Did a little bit of investigating on the web and found the '2 blinks' fault code means the over-current or over-voltage protection has kicked in and may be a power supply problem

Any members do TV repairs and could have a look for me?...or supply me with a new power supply card? (I am guessing you can change the offending card?)

TV spec: Sony Trinitron 32" widescreen KV-32FX66U 50Hz Serial No 6006026

Luckily we have a spare TV,and I will be working abroad again soon so no rush, but I would prefer to fix it rather than throw it away....although it would give me an excuse to purchase a nice LCD or Plasma :-D

Cheers

Aldi stuffs not bad and items like that usually carry a 3 year warranty.

If I wasn't so skint, I'd be there first thing Monday morning.

I went to Aldi in Luton once........never went back, but that was quite a few years ago and hopefully they've improved since then.

Mind you....Luton!! Says it all really :D

There's one in Northants. somewhere. I use MK. Luton, perish the thought.

Anyway, wht do you think of the spec? is it a 1080 thingy. I reckon 42" would be too big for me. Maybe 37", when the price drops a bit more

the Aldi TV isn't 1080P. If like me you enjoy watching motorsports and other fast moving sports then you should have 1080P (P=Progressive Scan). It means that fast moving objects on the screen don't ghost as the refresh rate/mode is better. Don't get a 1080i Plasma TV, it's the poor cousin and it's not as good.

Tesco have a really nice Samsung 50" 1080P Plasma screen for

In the spec: HD ready 480p/576p/720p/1080i

and it's LCD not plasma.

It's all very confusing how they manipulate the specs.
