In a bid to find the perfect MX5, these are the things I have on my list:

Coilovers
Some kind of rool hoop (you cant fit an FIA cage without removing the roof)
LSD

Thats it!

Steering away from sports exhaists for 3 reasons:

1) The noise would do my head in daily driving
2) Its not going to give me any power
3) I'd never have to worry about db restrictions

The car will be a daily driver (albeit light miles, say 6 miles each way...) so I dont want it too comprimised.

Have I missed anything from the list?

Oh, and as a really difficult question, the coilovers would probably make it faster, but woudl it be more fun?

Fist mod I would do for handling is none of the above - it would be getting the suspension geometry sorted on a 3d jig.

Where are you based Michael?

If you are wanting tyres for track days then there are very often second hand sets that make for very cheap track day rubber.

A harness, you feel much more part of the car and not trying to hold yourself in place under breaking and cornering makes life easier

Only dont ditch the standard belt, you'll regret it the first time your trying to edge out of a junction :-D

MK1's are 14's as standard, 15's on some editions. 185/60 or something silly....
