New Years resolutions?

In a slightly self indulgent blog style post, I thought I would mention my resolutions for 2008, hopefully onwards, and see what other people were doing too.

I am determined to regain some of my fitness. I know this is one of the most regular promises that we make ourselves but I'm 36 in a few weeks and as someone who used to compete at national level amateur athletics and semi-professional football for years, my current diabolical fitness level is simply not good enough. I'll be starting a regular bout of cycle use, both offroad and on, starting as soon as I can rid myself of the cold that I have.

Second thing, potentially more life changing, is my day to day working life. I'm not happy working the hours that I do, weekends in particular, so my main business will be coming under very close scrutiny. Can I change the hours that I do? Can I change the services that we provide as a business to enable me time off when I want it? Honestly, I don't know the answers to these questions. The 'can opener' question will be, do I have the bottle to change what I do entirely if I cannot restructure my hours to suit my life?

One things for sure-2008 will be a roller coaster of ups and downs. Let's hope the former outweigh the latter :thumb:

So come on then. What are you doing for 2008? Please try to keep your answers/feedback serious and constructive. I'll be interested to re-visit this thread and see what we have all achieved over the next 12 months.

My resolution is simple really.

Just get my life back in order. From the business to the cars. Everything needs a good looking at to get it straight again. Fed up with working evenings and weekends, much the same as yourself Stu. There are a few things in the pipeline which should sort things out, it's just a matter of deciding which way to go.

well i have already started my "new life" and resolutions some months ago.

i have already lost 17lb in weight over a 2 month period at the gym ( ask ben :-D )

i plan to improve on this after a further 4 months before going for "definition".

this and my recent separation of my wife and i ( divorce going through the system ) things have gone quite smoothly which is good for the kids and certainly this time of year.

all this has put the cars on the back-burner, more so the fact i had to sell my skyline.

i am remaining very positive about 2008 especially as i have been spending the last 3 weeks as the head chef at Esporta ( the norfolk health and raquets club )

i really want a holiday next year which will be my first..... ever.

so quite few "mid-life" things are well into practice :)

the new track weapon is a BMW 325i which is having some comfort mods done soon.

i intend to continue track days next year but my "base" for repairs etc is quite different so i don't know how long this will all last?

so work and health is covered for now. lets see how the rest follows?

i want to do the new years favorite of packing up smoking i dont smoke during the week only if i go out or have a beer (which i dont do as mch now lol) try and de-stress more and not take so much work on certainly away as when i come back to norwich i am always left with sorting problems as i cant be here to keep an eye on staff, but the main thing i want to do is get down the gym and start training again as its been 4 years i used to weigh 15stone and have a six pack and used to be fit cardiovascular (sp) now i am hitting 18stone with a keg and if i cant drive there i wont go there lol so thats the plan :-D

Same as Duncan really....

I find new years resolutions seldom happen unless you go all out to make them happen, and it becomes the be all and end all of your life, a bit like losing weight, drinking less or saving more money, so i would just as soon be trying harder to acheive my 'GOALS' for the next year in terms of both personal and business aspects of my life.

However, i certainly wouldn't call them new years resolutions and i honetly think a new years resolution implies that you might or might not get there, a bit like like saying, I wish.......

Good luck to all of you whatever your 'GOALS' are :thumb:

Mine are:

1) give up smoking AGAIN :x
2) Prioritise better at work, and say no a little more :)
3) Get my new garage built so I can fit my car in comfort.

That should be nice and easy to achive, good luck to those with the fitness resolutions :-#

mine i suppose is the same as most peoples, is to lose weight mainly because i will be/look more healthy and me and my fiance' intend on getting married in 2009 and i really dont want to look a fat bastid in the wedding photos.
also the loss of weight will benefit the car  at the last BP drag evening i really should of been into the 12's with the power i have instead of mid 13's.

and the other is that i hopefully can sell my house so that we can get a house with a garage so i can start playing with the car again.

lose by gut, and get fitter.

sounds easy, but it has been the same for the last couple of years now :(

Sounds like we should have a few laps of Snetterton on foot doing a Forest Gump :-D

Mine is to spend less money on my car and more on kitesurfing and actually making the effort to drive to the beach when it's cold.

Oh and pay off a debt or two
