All you need to do is find a crack for the PS3 so that it plays DVD's from any region....just like you might do with a normal DVD player.

I think for PS3 you have to have a MODCHIP and that unlocks the player to not only play any game bought from anywhere in the world but hi-def bluray films too :D

http://www.ps3modchip.info/

http://modchip.com/

But the alternative is......as there isn't a MODCHIP made yet for the PS3....

......This last one http://ps3-evolution.dcemu.co.uk/-ps3-p ... 63627.html has the links for the software that you need to download (all the drivers and unlocking tool called Infectus), a tutorial video and written tutorial. The process involves flashing some of the chips on your PS3, and so long as you feel comfortable doing that via a USB cable from your PS3 to your PC (very similar to flashing your PC motherboard or car ECU :D ) you should be away.

So....don't give away your films, have a read of the above links and why not try out the mod so you can watch all your import DVD's and play all the import games you like :D:D

Kev

dumbass :D

Modchips and the like are all well and good but the law sees these products as illegal, hence no high street store offering it as a valid service.

Import games will play anyway or at least everyone I have tried does.

The very first PS3 consoles that came to the UK were UK specific. It's not until a little while back that they decided to start shipping unlocked PS3's to the UK, the same consoles the rest of the world gets, in an attempt to stop people modding their machines with modchips or software hacks.

If you have one of the early UK PS3's you cannot play import games or films or backups of either kind :)

Stu.....Does yours play import BluRay film DVD's?? If so....How old is it??

I own one of the first PS3's brought into the UK and it does play import games. It will not play import movies unless the manufacturer has chosen not to lock the film. (Some firms state they are region 1 but the films still play regardless)

I own one of 17 PlayStation 3 'Tier 1' dealerships in the UK so I do speak with some authority :D

All the Bloggs i read said the early UK PS3's wouldn't play anything out of region.

Clearly not then...say's our resident PS3 expert 'Stu the video dude' :D

Stu....What about the software hacks for playing import BluRay Films. Would you advise against them ??

I'm always interested in hearing the experts view :thumb:
