To be quite honest - I think Virgin do give the best service - my dad's had nothing but problems with BT and my friends who have tried to save money using the others such as t-mobile, toucan, bulldog etc have all had nightmares.

Whenever i get p1ssed off with Virgin i ring up and complain like hell, threaten to leave them and i usually get a discount off something or refunds on my bills. Their billing system is shite too so there's usually money coming off the bill there too. Works every time.

Almost 10mths ago i told them to stuff their TV package when they stopped broadcasting Sky1 and other Sky channels, and went to Sky directly. Since then whenver i want to complain about something i always say 'you lost my TV subscription to Sky because you were being silly buggers so sort this out, or, Do me a deal!!'. Again i gfet some money off somewhere.

If you have been a customer of the same cable company for years like i have (CableCom to CableTel to NTL and now called Virgin) that usually has some leverage. Tell them you are really p1ssed off that they should offer deals to new customers but existing long term customers get bugger all!! If they want to keep your business they need to play ball!!

I do exactly the same with O2, and my biggest conquest recently was when i threatened to take my business elsewhere i managed to wangle the following:

XDA Trion - Free of Charge
18mth contract at
Buggers cancelled my op just a couple of days before it was due. Inconsiderate barstewards!!

Thank you but I'm actually better off with Sky believe it or not. The broadband, although still slow as I'm miles from the exchange, is definitely faster and it worked out cheaper. :D
