I have a new tool to play with



Bought in mainly for adding to a basic GTR rollcage for a BP member, but will be very usefull for other work. It will bend up to 45 degrees without much deformation on thick wall tubing.

The test pieces as in the pic are 2mm wall stainless steel and it bent them no problem as i went for the 16 ton version over the 10 or 12 ton. It will adapt to bend solid bar and other sections of metal.

I will make bespoke strut braces, lower suspension braces, tunnel braces etc using high grade seamless tubing where necessary.

Can you get a 90 deg bend or will it just deform the metal? :idea:

It is meant to bend to 60 degrees from the stroke of the ram and i am sure it will as it has plenty of power. From the test pieces i have done i think it will deform quite a lot above 45 degrees. I cannot justify tens of thousands of pounds for a mandrel bender!
I am only intending to do door bars, diagonals, adding to existing cages and making suspension/chassis braces etc. Not after making full cages.

You could buy 90 degree bends and weld them in anyway, nice piece of kit Ed.

A guy I work with has one of these pipe benders, I spoke to him nicely to see if he could extend onto my rear hoop. With a bit of bending and welding, I was more than happy with the results. :-D
