Annabelle's ring trip report

Hi, I'm Annabelle and I went to the Nurburgring for a long weekend. We had to leave TOO early on Saturday morning. I had to get up at a blistering 5 o'clock  It was painful believe me! We left at about 6 o'clock but i slept nearly all the way to the euro tunnel.
It had been about an hour I think to get to the euro tunnel and when we got on there it was really cool. The feeling of us moving in our car but our car wasn't moving (sorry if you don't get it), it is really weird! Quick and easy though! It only took us ha;f an hour to get into France.
In France I was really surprised at how many factories there was. I thought it would be all houses and countryside but there was puffs of smoke coming from all around you. I fell asleep though after that so I don't know how it was after the coast line.
When I awoke we had been in Belgium for ages. It didn't look much different from France apart from it had no factories. Germany though was plain beautiful. Cold but beautiful!I stayed awake then. Dad said it was only 10 minutes 'til we got to Nurburg.
When we arrived at the hotel we unpacked and had a quick drink then we were off again to the track. I wasn't nervous but mum was. We zoomed down the straight, me at the back, mum at the front and (obviously) dad driving. We got to the first corner and because I wasn't in a harness only an ordinary seatbelt I was thrown around for the whole of it, making me feel a bit sick. I was fine though. My favorite bit was the carousel. It is so bumpy, i also liked going over the apex's! My mum didn't like that though!

That evening we went to Pinocchio's pizza place. The pizza's, whoa, what can I say! They are ENORMOUS!!!!! I managed to eat half of mine but then I was just too full!

On Sunday it had obviously been raining and cold all night but dad went down and left me and mum to have a sleepy lie in morning which was nice! He went out on track few times, not considering how wet it was! He came and picked us up later on in the morning and we went to watch at hatzenbach. It was cold, but we kept on smiling!

Later on in the morning we went to the museum. It was the best part of the day so far. It was fantastic.

WE saw so many things that were really interesting!

I had a photo taken in a f1 car (but I've done that before in Jensen Buttons car so it wasn't so good! :smug: )

But, the best bit was when I went in the racing simulator. It isn't very realistic but it is meant to feel like you are actually driving it!

For lunch we met up with some of dad's friends. Chris the policeman, who always has a teethy grin on his face, and his dad Ken who is really funny! We had lunch with them at this fast food place and then I wanted to show them the museum because we could go in there again until 6 so we took them in there. They loved it too and Chris had a go on the simulator and tried to beat me! Ken didn't have a go though, I think he should have though. He would have been really good!
After that we all went to the track for dad, Chris and Ken to go out on their own. No way were me and mum going out in this weather. We didn't want to watch either really but we did. The boys went out then came to meet us at Brunchen corner where we were out in the open and cold. We were just about to leave when I walked up to this pole and bent down to do up my shoe. I totally forgot all about the bar and stood up when 'ke-dink' and there's a girl on the floor clutching her head! It hurt!
That night we went to the paddock restaurant to watch the grand prix. What a shame huh? Who knows what happened! Poor Lewis .
After that to eat we went to the Pistonklause. Everyone apart from me had Argentine steak on a stone which cooked it. It was so smoky! (I had it the next night though!) Then we said bye to Chris and Ken and drove to our hotel bar where we (I say we) chatted to Andy the barman) for ages. I fell asleep (well, I tried) . eventually we got to sleep at about half past 1 in the MORNING
In the morning, it was lovely again after yesterday. Cold, fresh, chilly but sunny! After we got ready, we walked to the castle which was right next to our hotel.

After that we met up with Chris and Ken again and decided to go carting. I was really excited. We got there and found out that you had to be twelve when I'm eleven. I was devastated. I still enjoyed watching Chris, Ken and Dad though I probably didn't look like it! Dad was the first off then Chris then poor little Ken. Dad lapped him three times and Chris lapped him twice. When the session was finished Ken drove past and me and mum cheered him for doing so well! Aaaah!

We went to the track after that. Dad and Chris went out on their own after lunch while me, Mum and Ken had a chat. Then Chris and Ken went their own way for a while so me, mum and dad went out. We did an 9 minute 27 seconds, which was our fastest out of the three laps we'd all done together. Then I decided I wanted a go in the front. So we dropped mum off to watch at Pflanzgarten corner and just me and dad went out. I knew this was going to be fast. Even though there was a bit of road works on the carousel:( because they were repairing a bit of barrier, we still did a 9 minute 39 seconds which was the fastest I'd ever been so far. :thumb: But then all three of us went out again. We did a 8 MINUTE 58seconds. I was astounded! The fastest I'd ever been and Dad's fastest ever was 8 mins 46 so it was pretty close! Then I went out on my own again and with a crash where we practically had to stop and being stuck behind a roadworks lorry we still did 9 mins 26 seconds. That was our last ever lap this October. I loved it. I so want to go there again.
Tuesday morning was -3 degrees so everything was frozen. We had breakfast early and headed off. When we were saying goodbye to the hotel owners who we had made friends with I though I don't want to go. I want to stay here. I love it here. There's so much to do. I'll miss this place!
