Is it possible to get my road tax without the mot certificat present?

it will be mot and i could have the number off the mot certificate if there is one.

I thought about taxing it online as all you need is the number off your v5 and reg number and the system checks for the insurance and tax but i read on their website that if you purchase your tax online it is still illegal to drive the car without the tax disk present. although you only just did it online.

So i need to get my tax from the post office but without the mot certificate present.

buy it online, its easier. i drove mine for about a week with the old tax disc in, then changed it the minuate it came in the post.

if you got stopped they would do a vehicle check and they would know its been taxed, MOT, and insured.

so i wouldnt worry.

Even if you tax your car online you can still get fined for not displaying a tax disc, bit like
the old 'tax in post' notes we used to put in the windscreen.

Not legally! It is an offense to place a vehicle on the public roads -- even just parked -- without displaying a valid tax disc. Even though it MIGHT be in the DVLA database (and therefore not trigger a violation in a police car with the new camera system fitted) the display of the disc remains a legal requirement.

When I taxed the GTR online it only took 2 days to get the disc through in the post. Can you not wait a little while or do you need to use the car immediately?

Wait?? it's been off the road for 2 years. I can't wait to drive it. :-D

Apparently if i tax it via the Dvla instead of the post office they can check on their system and see that it's got a MOT aslon as the MOT was done on one of the new electronic systems.

The old tax disk in the window post probably has nibbles in it from the moths haha.
