Just travelled from good ol' King's Lynn to Norwich for an exam today. On the 3 lots of dual carriageway it was more like duel carriageway. Absolutely no lane discipline, no blind spot checking and no signalling :x

I usually end up with my headlights on in broad day light so people can see me!

Now I'll be the first to admit that I'm no saint, I don't speed in 20s, 30s, 40's and 50's but on 'duel' carriages and motorways or clear A roads I have a dabble and often exceed the national speedlimit which was set 40 something years ago, as do millions of other drivers every day. So I can't understand how people can sit in the outside lane assuming that they are the authority on who's driving too fast preventing others from making progress on their journeys> I know I don't and would never assume that I could not be overtaken. I always keep to the left unless over taking, check mirrors and signal allways no matter what speend I'm going, time of day or how heavy the traffic.

I'll stop there, getting angry again :x

Anyone else feel this way?

But if I was to do so because a Merc driver was assuming that nobody should drive faster than him. Then he gets the hump and proceeds to flash his lights behind me and follow me home, what do you do then? Bash his bumpkin butt arround with a piece of 2x4?

AFAIK Strictly speaking undertaking ISN'T illegal - however it is highly frowned on and could be interpreted by our friends in blue as dangerous driving

Nope,

Its a specific offense to deliberately pull into the left lane to pass a vehicle on the inside to then pull out again in front of them. The only time it isnt illegal is if there is steady speed traffic in both lanes and you have perhaps gone past a vehicle in the overtaking lane and then pulled out.

Its the number one hazard on the roads related to "bad driving" imho and one of the prime factors in accidents on the motorways Im sure. All anyone does these days is sit in the overtaking lane and then the instant the brake lights come on in that lane they jump into the left lane to get an advantage, often continuing at their original speed of say 80mph as the traffic to their right slows to maybe 40mph - a recipe for disaster I see causing crashes almost everyday.

The main reason there arent any motorways in Norfolk is because if they built one the place would be empty by the end of the week as they all try to escape !!!

Too true. That and the motorway would be full of caravans and I'm sure the tractors would find their way onto it too!

I have really enjoyed my time at RAF Marham, but after 2 years I can't wait to move to the Swindon area because Norfolk really does my head in..... it will be a real novelty to be able to see some country side without having to go flying!

Its not a specific offence it would be "Driving without due care and attention" or possibly "Reckless driving" . If you do it safely with proper indictation you may just get away with a b*llocking

There are three times you can legally overtake on the left not one

1) If the vehicle ahead is signalling to turn right and there is room to do so

2)If you are in traffic and the queue on your right is moving more slowly than you are.

3) You are turning left and have a filter lane allowing you to do so.
