Following on from an earlier discussion originally posted by stu (I think)
2 weeks ago whilst racing at ellough i was involved in a very seroius accident, in which i lost consciousness on the track. The race was halted by 30 mins whilst i was attended to by the paramedics. At the end of my obs period i was free to leave under strict instruction.
Basically with out going into too much detail a kart hit me from the rear quarter. went over the top of the kart and me. A full race trim kart weights 162KG. This tipped my kart whilst the other kart was on top of me. We then tumbled down the track for 7-8 meters before coming to rest. The paramedics told me my chin touched the back of my shoulder blade.
To cut to the chase they thought i was dead on the track or at least paralised. I managed to escpae with a concussion brusing and damaged tricep muscle.
I have not yet been passed fit to race again but will be returning soon (with a new helmet and suit)
I am glad i spent the right money on the right helmet it saved my life 100%
