If I understand your setup correctly; you can only ever be able to get one channel to output from the Sky box to the recorder/tv, as you only have a single sky tuner.
The recorder will not find 'channels' as you are only providing it with a single AV input. Does the recorder also have an TV aerial socket? If it does this will be the 'find channels'.
If you want to be able to schedule recordings with sky you should look at getting a Sky+ box. This also does all the play/pause and had dual tuners so you can watch one channel and record another.

Yup you will need a sky box for what your trying to do
or....
If your recording or want to watch something which is normal tv i think you should be able to watch the tv via the arial and record the other channel via the skybox. or other way round.

Sorry if this is pointing out the obvious,
But the number of times I have to explain it defies belief - but you dont get an aerial signal from a sky dish. so just connecting the aerial socket on your HDD recorder to the aerial output from your skybox wont do anything - you actually have to connect it to an aerial !!! Alot of people assume that because they get BBC and ITV from Sky that they must have an aerial but that isnt the case at all !!!
Normally you would have an aerial socket go into your HDD recorder (assuming its got a built in tuner or DTT tuner) then the television, if you have extra points fed off your sky box then pm me with your exact setup and I will try to give you the best way to connect it all up.
Just trying to help,
