Got an MOT due,
I knew I had a leaking rear steering rack and had planned to remove it and replace it with assist links from an MR model, removing the pump from the diff and associated pipeworks will save me around 40KGS.
So...there I am underneath, Oh...the front is leaking as well.... to remove it I have to remove the exhaust (which I have to do to drop the rear subframe and remove the rear rack!)
It took me nearly three hours to get it off :x
Now I need to get the Anti-Roll bar out of the way so that I can release the clamps that hold down the Rack.
Then its the pipework and drain the steering fluid and disconnect it from the droplinks....
The brake pipes have to come off the rear in order for me to drop the subframe as do the bottom of the struts, then I have to fabricate brackets for the assist links and turn up a plug to blank the hole I leave on the diff where I remove the rear power steering pump.
Anyway....to sum up I don't think you'll be seeing me anytime soon! :?
