That they are - at my sister's fella's house - we couldn't get his hub working so we simply used one of the 7 or 8 we could see locally.

I have just moved house, and while my broadband is being connected I too have resorted on my kind neighbours who decided to leave their wireless open to all :-D

BTW guys, go for a stronger encription than WEP if you can. WEP can be cracked in 10 mins with the right software :o (Please do not ask me for more information as I do not condone it)

Numpty hat on for a moment~

why do people bother to spend time 'cracking' wireless networks? Are they really that bothered about saving a few quid on a broadband subscription?

That, and also the fact that from the Wireless they have a much easier route to hack your computer and retrieve information it may hold. A personal computer is not very likely to be attacked in this fashion, but if some one wants a way in,,,, personal computers tend not to be very secure in themselves - but this is improving :)

If you want a 'secure network', do not use wireless

Aswell as any illegal doing's will be matched to the wireless hubs ip address.

You can spoof mac addresses - I was shown a program that cracks wep in about 10 seconds!.
