Is this a stupid way to clean my car seats?

Right, the upholstery cleaner isn't shifting much of the dirt and oil stains on my sparco seats, so should I put them in the bath and give them a good soaking with washing powder? I'll remove all the metal bracketry of course ;) I would just remove the fabric lining but its glued on to the seat with the padding so it can't be removed.

Yay/Nay?

If you soak them in the bath then you will disolve all the glue and end up with baggy seats where the fabric will start to lift.

have you tried Vanish spray or just noticed this morning JML are now doing a Magic Dry Foam cleaner where you spray without the wetness and when its dry - you vaccum and all has gone - although it looked good on the ad - not sure how effective it actually is - worth a try maybe

Can you not get them valated? I think they use a steam cleaner, can't cost that much?
