I have responded yes - it will go on a card so can forget it and just look forward to the events when they come through.

I am guessing that they have decided to do it as a one off fee to try and thin the field down.... I am sure it will work but may even go too far down that route for them.

I have two main issues/problems with the application. First~ I cannot really afford a spare grand before I start with new brakes and new tyres. Second~ Rob Barnes mentioned two weekends may well use the Saturday and the Sunday. Sundays I can blag but taking the whole weekend off just will not happen, full stop.

Will read the document again, check the bank balance (there is no way I'll borrow money to race) and see what's what. This walking the walk lark is bloody expensive

I think I am out, I can't stomach that cost for 4 sprints, it not like you get lots of track time, also the paying for the series upo front, I can't commit to being able to do every round

Admitted it is damned expensive, but I have spent a lot of money getting my car to hopefully be competitive in the Club Challenge class and so I am going to have to bite the bullet and just go for it.

I will be disappointed if some of the competitve dirvers in this class from last year now can't compete because of the price.

However it does warrant trying to get sponsorship to cover the entry cost, or at least part of it.

I can understand why they have done it, it garantees that those who enter do all the rounds....but as such a young event I think they run the risk of cutting out quite a few people from the event.

I would still be kken to do 1 or 2 of the events, I just woun't be able to do them all with the time constraints I have.

Are you looking at heading over to the Ring at somepoint, reckon it would be good, you can see how your new spec performs against your old spec

I am sorry to say that I have given this a lot of thought overnight, emptied my piggy bank and cannot afford to do this. It's not the entry fees, it's the potential for me killing the car or doing some damage in between rounds and Ring Trips. I'm gonna have to pussy out which is the last thing I wanted to do.

I will contact Rob Barnes, SJS designs etc and let them know.

At least this decision leaves me free to concentrate on everything else this year and I stand by earlier notion of supporting anyone who takes part.

OK.... lots of money in the flesh up front.... but i've comitted myself....!!!

I also have spent lots of money getting the car to be quick and competitive on track. BUT i have no idea how competitive I AM???
I know i've upset several top brand cars on track days, but then i have no idea what the drivers abilities are..
So i figure i only have one real way to find out and thats in an event like this....

I just hope i'm not making a fool out of myslef, both in my driving and the money i spent modding the car!

To be honest Mike, I think you and Dunk will do well. A good standard of trackday driver will know its all about consistency of lapping and picking up cleaner lines at the track. You guys should both do that well.

I think if I'm honest, I know that my car is pretty good but I've wasted money on daft bits that haven't helped me get 'ready'. I did the Ring last year knowing the car wasn't right and it was very nearly a huge waste of money. There you are, maybe next year.
